About Vanessa Hartmann, PhD

I'm Vanessa Hartmann, a psychologist specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy and EMDR. I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from Adelphi University and completed my internship in health psychology at NYP/Columbia University Irving Medical Center with rotations in inpatient mental health, perinatal mental health. During my doctorate, I also held externships at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel and the New School's College Counseling center. My dissertation research looked at themes of institutional betrayal and moral injury among women reporting sexual harassment in academia and the workplace. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship in EMDR and trauma-focused psychotherapy at Center Psychology Group, where I continue to practice now. Prior to my career as a psychologist, I worked for many years in publishing, media, and journalism. I live in northern Westchester with my family, a cat, and too many plants.
